The 2026 Mayor's Christmas Appeal aims to provide support to residents of the Townsville Community who are experiencing financial hardship over the Christmas period.

We are seeking expressions of interest from local not for profit community organisations to distribute the donated funds to Townsville residents who are experiencing financial hardship over the Christmas period, along with an extended option to receive direct goods donations from community

For the purposes of the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal, the Christmas period is 1 December 2026- 31 January 2027.

Expressions of interest forms will close at 11.59pm on Wednesday 17th June, 2026.

Expression of Interest outcomes will be notified to applicants in July 2026 or as soon as practicable possible.

Personal Information Collection Notice

Townsville City Council (Council, we, our, us) collects and manages personal information in the course of performing its activities, functions and duties. We respect the privacy

of the personal information held by us. The way in which Council manages personal information is governed by the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld).

We are collecting your personal information in accordance with the Local Government Act 2009 for the purpose of administering The Mayor’s Christmas Appeal and in order to provide the services, functions and business of Townsville City Council.

Council may use and disclose your personal information, including photographs, for advertising and promotional material purposes in any medium (including, but not limited to television, print, press, cinema, radio, email, website and social media). Council will not otherwise disclose your personal information outside of Council unless we are required to do so by law, or unless you have given us your consent to such disclosure. Your personal information will not be disclosed to overseas recipients.

2. Obligations of Successful Recipients

Successful applicants will be required to provide an outcomes report signed by an authorised person of your organisation by 11.59pm on Friday 26 February 2027.

Purpose of the outcomes report is to provide feedback on the impact of the donated funds to support residents within our community aligned to the focus area of the Appeal, this may include but not limited to:

  • Number of people assisted by the Appeal
  • How the use of funds supported people experiencing financial hardship over the Christmas period.
  • Total funds spent/unspent from the Appeal
  • Feedback about the impact of the support that has been provided to people experiencing financial hardship over the Christmas period.
  • Types of goods received through direct donations from the community

3. Termination

I understand that the Mayor's Christmas Appeal will terminate its agreement to support the organisation if:

  • The organisation ceases to be a not-for-profit organisation for any reason: and/or
  • The organisation does not comply with the conditions set out in this agreement
